Summer Reading

As sweltering heat gives way to cool evening breezes, as back-to-school sales give way to fall-fashion finds, as Bay Area traffic worsens from stress-inducing to why-do-I-choose-to-live-here, the summer gently rolls into autumn. It’s made me realize that working with the children’s choir (more on that in a later post), has bumped into a succession of summer houseguests, which has coincided with busier workperiods; and it’s all rolled into two months of neglecting The Rambling Suitcase. Classifying the hiatus as a summer break, I’m easing back into it by sharing this curated list of travel-related articles. Happy reading!

Pretty convincing. (I’ve experienced or researched doing items here, and will vouch for the legitimacy of this list.) While I don’t recommend you literally drop everything, I do recommend you visit (or revisit) España. Admit it…that name alone inspires all sorts of vivid imagery.

It’s a shame that 40% of Americans don’t use all their vacation days. A shame! A sad, sad thing. A travesty. It’s crazy to think Americans Are Too Afraid And Stressed To Take Days Off From Work when Europeans (and Australians and Brazilians) vacation for a month or more. Listen up: Want a raise?
